Today was my first day at college. I wasn’t that excited this morning because of something that happened in the past.
So I got up in the morning… barely! I am used to getting up late… say around 11AM and even 8AM was early for me. Neverthless, I got up and went to the loo. OK… I’ll skip this part
. Now I got ready, had my breakfast. I was waiting for dad who was getting ready as if it was his first day at college
! Finally dad was ready and we were off.
First, Dad took me to the temple. The sweepress(I think that’s what you call a female sweeper) at the temple was pretty surprised to see a young boy attired in a funky shirt with his jeans falling down at the temple!! I payed respects, got my prasad and came back to the car. After say about half an hour, I reached my college. Dad wanted to take the car inside the college but I forced him to stop outside. C’mon… who takes their parents with them to college??? Well some children do… believe me… I saw such creatures today
! Anyways… there was this huge banner outside the college stating that ragging was banned. I was disappointed!! No ragging… no fun!! I went inside and there I met Sahil Dwivedi… an old friend and a great person. He is in Mechanical Engg. while I’m in Computer Science. He introduced me to some of his friends in Comp. Sc. and just then they called us to the library for the Orientation Programme. It was fucking hot inside. About 300 children… all stuffed into a hall with barely seven fans!! We marked our attendance. The chairman, principal and all the other pakau buddhas came and barked. They told us the rules and all that shit. Then after 1 1/2 hours they invited us for some stupid tea party where they served pakodas. I just had water there.
It was hot and we decided to head into our lecture hall. The teacher, professor or whatever you call those idiots asked us for our introduction. Then another fool came and asked us to come upto the lecture stand and give our intros again. Our batch is definitely better than our seniors. Our seniors are basically dark glasses wearing pendu guys and gals who were shit scared to even ask our names. The teacher, professor or whatever you call those idiots took us for a tour of the college which they termed as “roundabout”
!! Throughout that tour, my eyes kept searching for a decent looking cutie. My eyes locked onto some girls and some seniors also. But its just the first day… so lets wait and watch. Looks can be deceptive you know!!
Then they let us go… just like that. They said the tour’s over… you guys are free… go back home or stay back. I couldn’t note down the time table because I had to find the college bus which would take me back home. I got into the bus where a senior stopped me and asked me to introduce myself. Big shit!! That’s it… no ragging. DAMN! But maybe I’ll get lucky (or unlucky… whatever you wanna call it!) tomorrow and they rag me in the bus as well as the college. Life is so boring without any interaction.
Waise… I found a few tolerable people to talk to. I repeat… tolerable!!
I got back in the hot sun at around 2PM. When I entered my sector, I saw my school buses leaving. I saw Vijay Sir (a.k.a Bihari) and nodded my head to wish him. He replied with a nod. I kept gulping the pepsi I had bought from the market after I got down from the bus. Just as I reached home the unthinkable happened. I stepped on a loose concrete slab which splashed mud and dirty water all over my new jeans and sneakers
. I immediately went inside and got to cleaning my latest possessions. I didn’t even care to tell my mom or dad how my day was (stupid of me). So then I narrated everything to everyone say like a zillion times! Anjum came in the evening and we went for a long long drive (geda) and stared at some wild looking gals. Then we went to Abhit’s place and blah blah blah…
OK that’s it. I can’t write no more. I’m sleeping… Good night!
