Well last night, when I came back after visiting someone, my sister greeted me with an unusual look on her face.
Then she spoke…
Rahul, Arjun called up. Something bad has happened… your English teacher Mrs. Shibani Singh, her husband & her Sister-in-Law have been murdered
I didn’t know how to react. At first I laughed & told her not to joke. But she just asked me to call up Arjun & confirm the news. I called up Arjun immediately. He picked up the phone. I did not say hello, simply asked him if the news was true. He replied in the affirmative. I was life WTF!!!
Niharika called up Ritima & Ritima called up Arjun. Arjun rang up the rest of us.
I couldn’t sleep last night. Didn’t feel like crying. I actually didn’t know how to react. I couldn’t believe what I had heard. Khanna SMSed me & told me that the news was on Siti Channel, LIVE!!
This is soooooooo sick!!! How can anyone actually murder someone?!! And that too Shibani Ma’am.
My favorite teacher. And I know many of you WILL not agree, but I was her fav. student. Never once, in the four years she had taught me, had she scolded or humiliated me in front of the class. Even when I was wrong. She believed me in blindly. When all the other teachers used to complain to my mother on the PTA meetings, she was the ONLY one who said that I was a brilliant kid. She supported me throughout. Even now, since the last two years, when she didn’t teach me, still she praised me.
It all started from the 2nd or 3rd English class in class 7th. She had given us some homework… we had to write a diary entry. Although my work was untidy, but she appreciated my effort in front of the whole class.
After that, it was always like that. I think she scolded me just once (as far as I can remember). Children used to be scared of her. But she was an excellent teacher. Devoted to her subject.
Always appreciated the articles I wrote. Even showed them to the principal once or twice.
I seriously don’t know what else to say. Just that I’ll miss her.
The school authorities declared a holiday today. But we had our Physical Education board practicals. I just didn’t want to be in school. It was fine in school, with the other guys, laughing & fooling around on the final day. But when I came back, all that I could think of was Ma’am.
Her voice echoed in my ears… I could hear her saying … “Sample Paper…!”.
I’ll miss you Ma’am. Everybody will.
Even though you will physically not be there with us. But you will always be there in our hearts, minds & thoughts.
Love you forever Shibani Ma’am!!!
Peace…

Rahul i felt the same feelings when i heard about the murder. It was shocking, really shocking.
And i was there at her home when the police was around and so was the press—and I felt a pain in my heart.
She taught us english for 4 years and our group was her favourite.I used to meet her so many times even whn I was the head boy and on our farewell she congratulated me for becoming Mr.Bhavans and wished me success for the future and just about a week after that……
.At her funeral ,I got some answers but many questions were also raised–Why does god take away such good people from the earth and if he/she/it really needs them why does he do it in such a brutal manner. What is the purpose of our lives?Where does it start and when will it end?
That day i saw about 6 cremations going on simultaneously and it made me realize that one day, we all would have the same fate ,some even worse so we need to live as gud human beings and always remember that—-How much land does a man require? Our money, property, cars, careers ,social status –not even our bodies will go to the other world—so why just cling to them throughout our lives—what would go with us are our good deeds for the welfare of mankind, our high ideals and the wishes of all our near and dear ones
Arjun
